Magic mushroom science: could a blood test predict who it helps?

NCT ID NCT07164755

Summary

This study is analyzing blood samples from a previous trial to understand how psilocybin (a compound in certain mushrooms) might work for treatment-resistant depression. Researchers are measuring inflammation markers in the blood to see if a person's level of inflammation before treatment, or how it changes afterward, is linked to how much their depression improves. The goal is to learn more about how psilocybin works and potentially find clues to better match future patients with this therapy.
