Summary
This study aims to understand how a moderate dose of psilocybin, the compound in psychedelic mushrooms, changes how people think and how their brains work. Researchers at Johns Hopkins will give psilocybin or a placebo to 30 healthy volunteers and use brain scans (EEG and MRI) and creative thinking tasks to measure effects on memory, creativity, and how the brain responds to videos and music. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about consciousness and potentially inform future medical uses of psychedelics.
