Should older men get PSA tests? massive data study aims to find out

NCT ID NCT07206693

Summary

This study used health records from over 250,000 Swedish men to understand if PSA blood tests for prostate cancer help men aged 75 to 79 live longer. Researchers compared men who had the test to those who didn't, tracking them for up to 16 years. The goal is to see if screening guidelines should be updated for this age group, while carefully weighing the risks of finding cancers that may not need treatment.
