Own blood injection tested as new hope for stubborn back pain

NCT ID NCT03712527

Summary

This study is testing if an injection of a patient's own concentrated platelets (platelet-rich plasma or PRP) directly into a painful, inflamed spinal disc can reduce pain and improve function better than a placebo injection. It involves 126 adults with chronic low back pain linked to a specific type of disc damage seen on an MRI. The main goal is to see if the PRP injection leads to a meaningful improvement in disability scores after three months.
