New study tests if advanced proton radiation is gentler on the heart and lungs

NCT ID NCT03270072

Summary

This study aims to see if proton beam radiation causes fewer side effects to the heart, lungs, and other nearby organs compared to standard radiation for people with stage II or III breast cancer. It follows 100 patients who are already part of a larger trial comparing the two radiation types. The main goal is to measure and compare changes in heart function and other potential complications between the two treatment groups.
