New proton beam method aims to spare patients from painful bowel and bladder side effects

NCT ID NCT06200259

Summary

This study is testing a new technique called 'Spot Delete' during proton beam therapy for prostate cancer. Researchers want to see if carefully controlling where the proton beams stop in the body can reduce common and painful side effects like diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and urinary problems. The study will compare the new technique to standard proton therapy in 500 men with low- to intermediate-risk prostate cancer.
