Precision radiation targets brain tumors while sparing healthy tissue

NCT ID NCT01358058

Summary

This study is testing whether proton radiation therapy can effectively control the growth of certain types of brain tumors while causing fewer side effects than standard radiation. Proton radiation delivers energy more precisely to the tumor, potentially sparing surrounding healthy brain tissue. The research involves 63 participants with specific types of low-grade or favorable grade 3 brain tumors who will receive daily proton radiation for about six weeks.
