Mayo clinic tests higher radiation dose to control tough lung cancers
NCT ID NCT03132532
Summary
This study tested whether a higher dose of proton beam radiation works better than a standard dose when combined with chemotherapy for patients with inoperable stage 2 or 3 non-small cell lung cancer. Twenty patients were randomly assigned to receive either 60 Gy or 72 Gy of proton radiation along with standard chemotherapy drugs. Researchers compared how long patients remained cancer-free and monitored side effects to determine which dose provides better disease control.
