Nighttime protein shakes may keep liver patients out of hospital
NCT ID NCT04096014
Summary
This study is testing whether taking a protein supplement at bedtime and again in the early morning can help people with advanced liver disease stay out of the hospital. It focuses on patients who have recently been hospitalized for a condition called hepatic encephalopathy, which causes confusion and brain fog. The idea is that the extra protein at specific times may help protect muscles and reduce toxins that lead to the brain problems.
