First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether a lower-protein supplement with extra ingredients works as well as a high-protein shake for building muscle and improving performance. Twenty elite male rugby players took either a 40-gram whey protein shake or a 20-gram multi-ingredient supplement after training for 12 weeks. The goal was to see if athletes can get good results with less protein, which may be healthier.
