New device could take the guesswork out of prosthetic fit

This study tests a new, non-invasive device that attaches to the outside of a prosthetic leg socket to measure how well it fits. Poor socket fit can cause pain, skin problems, and reduced mobility. The device uses air cylinders to track leg movement and gives a score based on how accurately the user moves their leg to targets on a screen. The study will include 18 adults with above-knee amputation to see if the device is reliable and can tell the difference between a loose and tight fit.
