Scientists dig through old records to predict prostate cancer fate
NCT ID NCT03912883
Summary
This study analyzed medical records and tissue samples from over 3,300 men diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer between 1990 and 2006 who chose watchful waiting (no immediate treatment). Researchers looked back at these cases to identify which factors—like PSA levels, cancer grade, and certain biomarkers—best predict long-term survival. The goal is to help future patients and doctors make more informed decisions about when active treatment might be necessary.
