Sound waves target prostate cancer, aim to spare men from surgery

Summary

This study is testing whether a minimally invasive procedure using focused ultrasound waves can safely destroy prostate cancer tumors. The treatment, guided by MRI imaging, aims to control cancer while helping men avoid surgery and maintain their urinary and sexual function. Researchers will follow 100 men with low to intermediate-risk prostate cancer for two years to measure cancer control and quality of life outcomes.
