Heartburn drug joins fight against tough prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT04337580

Summary

This study is testing whether adding the common heartburn medication omeprazole to standard chemotherapy (cabazitaxel) helps control advanced prostate cancer that has stopped responding to other treatments. It will involve about 50 men whose cancer has progressed despite prior hormone therapy and chemotherapy. Researchers believe omeprazole might block a cancer fuel source, potentially making the chemotherapy more effective at shrinking tumors and easing bone pain.
