Major trial offers prostate cancer patients a break from harsh treatment
NCT ID NCT05974774
Summary
This large, phase 3 trial is testing if men with advanced prostate cancer can safely take breaks from their continuous hormone-blocking therapy. The goal is to see if stopping treatment when the cancer is well-controlled can significantly improve patients' quality of life—reducing side effects like fatigue and sexual dysfunction—without shortening their overall survival. About 1,600 participants will be randomly assigned to either continue standard treatment or to stop and restart therapy based on their PSA blood test results.
