New tech pauses prostate cancer radiation when target moves

NCT ID NCT01742403

Summary

This study is testing a new technology to make prostate cancer radiation therapy more precise. It tracks the prostate in real-time during treatment and automatically pauses the radiation beam if the prostate moves more than 3mm. The goal is to see if this 'gating' technique is practical to use and helps deliver the intended radiation dose more accurately to the tumor.
