New radiation schedule shows promise for high-risk prostate cancer after surgery

Summary

This study tested a shorter course of higher-dose radiation (hypofractionation) in 53 men with prostate cancer who had high-risk features after their prostate was removed. The goal was to see if this approach could prevent cancer from coming back while possibly causing fewer side effects. The treatment is meant to control the disease, not cure it, as ongoing monitoring and potential future treatments may still be needed.
