New scan method may spot prostate cancer spread earlier than standard tests

NCT ID NCT07210086

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special PET scan (PSMA-PET) and a blood test for tumor DNA can detect prostate cancer progression earlier than the usual PSA blood test. About 50 men with prostate cancer that has spread to a few spots will get targeted radiotherapy. Researchers will then compare scan and blood test results over 12 months to see which method spots cancer growth first.
