Genetic test could help men avoid unnecessary prostate cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT04396808

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a genetic test score to standard risk information helps men with newly diagnosed, favorable-risk prostate cancer make better treatment decisions. 900 men will be randomly assigned to either receive their standard risk score alone or their standard risk score plus a genetic test result. The goal is to see if the extra genetic information leads more men to safely choose active monitoring instead of immediate surgery or radiation, and improves their quality of life.
