First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study involves 1,908 men aged 50 to 75 with elevated PSA or suspicious exam results. Participants receive an MRI first, and only those with suspicious MRI findings undergo biopsy. The study compares targeted biopsies alone versus combined targeted and systematic biopsies to see if the targeted approach can detect serious cancers while avoiding detection of low-risk cancers. The goal is to reduce overdiagnosis and unnecessary treatment.
