Blood test could replace biopsies to track prostate cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT01961843

Summary

This small, completed pilot study aimed to find a better way to predict how prostate cancer will respond to a standard drug. Researchers tested whether analyzing cancer cells found in the blood (instead of using painful biopsies) could show if the drug was working. Forty men with advanced prostate cancer received the drug and had their blood tested regularly to look for these clues.
