Tracking 3000 men to predict which prostate cancers need treatment

NCT ID NCT00756665

Summary

This study follows men who have chosen 'active surveillance' for their low-risk prostate cancer, meaning they are closely monitored instead of immediately treated. Researchers will track 3000 participants over time with regular blood tests and biopsies. The main goal is to discover markers that can tell which cancers are likely to become aggressive and need treatment from those that will remain slow-growing and safe to watch.
