New study aims to take the ouch out of prostate biopsies

NCT ID NCT06986083

First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding local anesthesia during a prostate biopsy, while patients are already sedated, reduces pain after the procedure. Researchers will compare pain scores and recovery times between those who get the extra numbing and those who don't. About 800 men scheduled for a prostate biopsy will take part.
