NCT ID NCT00733590

First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study follows 1,500 people with heart failure who already have an implantable defibrillator (ICD) to understand why some experience life-threatening heart rhythms and others do not. Researchers will analyze heart structure, electrical signals, genetics, and blood proteins to find better ways to predict sudden cardiac death. The goal is to help doctors decide who truly needs an ICD replacement, avoiding unnecessary procedures and improving care.
