Can a common heart pill stop PTSD before it starts?

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called propranolol, taken soon after a traumatic event, can prevent post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from developing. It will involve 34 adult women who have recently experienced sexual violence. Participants will take either propranolol or a placebo (inactive pill) for about three weeks to see if it reduces the risk of developing PTSD symptoms.
