First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This pilot study tests whether a one-time 20 mg dose of propranolol can temporarily reduce the anger, anxiety, and physical discomfort that people with misophonia feel when hearing trigger sounds. Twenty adults aged 18-65 with significant misophonia symptoms will receive either propranolol or a placebo, and researchers will measure heart rate and self-reported distress. The goal is to see if this common blood pressure medication can offer short-term relief.
