Bee product lozenges take on gum disease in new trial
NCT ID NCT06888453
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested whether lozenges made from propolis (a bee product) could reduce gum inflammation and plaque in 100 adults aged 19–24 with moderate gingivitis. Participants used the lozenges for one week, while a control group only received oral hygiene instructions. Researchers measured gum health scores and saliva markers of inflammation before and after treatment. The goal was to see if propolis could be a simple, natural way to help control gum disease.
