Scientists use special imaging to see inside lungs of critically ill patients

NCT ID NCT06181539

Summary

This study aimed to better understand how and why a treatment called prone ventilation helps patients with severe lung failure (ARDS). Researchers used a special, non-invasive imaging technique at the bedside to see how air and blood flow in the lungs changed when patients were positioned lying on their stomachs. The goal was to learn why this position helps some patients more than others and to find ways to predict who will benefit most.
