Can a precise radiation burst stall Cancer's spread?
NCT ID NCT03808662
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether giving stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) to growing metastatic tumors can delay overall cancer progression. About 107 adults with triple-negative breast cancer or non-small cell lung cancer that has started to grow in a few spots will receive SBRT or no immediate radiation. The goal is to see if early, precise radiation can buy more time before the disease gets worse.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could give patients more time before their cancer progresses, potentially delaying the need for stronger treatments.
- What could go wrong
- This is a mid-stage trial with only 107 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. SBRT can cause side effects like fatigue or damage to nearby organs.
