Summary

This study tests a six-week mindfulness program called BEST (Building Emotional Strength Training) in 80 healthcare workers from UCLA Health. The program teaches loving-kindness, compassion, and other skills to reduce stress, depression, and burnout. Participants will fill out questionnaires and provide blood samples to check inflammation. The goal is to see if this approach can improve mental health and well-being in a high-stress profession.

Building Emotional Strength Training (BEST) - a mindfulness-based behavioral program

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a practical, low-cost way to reduce stress and burnout among healthcare professionals, improving their well-being and potentially patient care.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 80 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is behavioral, so effects may vary, and long-term benefits are unknown.
