New study tests if SPECT imaging can forecast prostate cancer treatment success
NCT ID NCT07643935
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study will look at whether SPECT scans taken after Lu-PSMA therapy can help predict how well patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) are doing. Researchers will measure tumor activity and volume on the scans and compare them to standard PET-based assessments. The goal is to find the best timing for evaluating treatment response, which could help doctors personalize care. The study plans to enroll 280 patients who have already received at least two cycles of Lu-PSMA therapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- 177Lu-PSMA-617 (a radioactive drug for imaging and treatment)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help doctors better predict how patients with advanced prostate cancer will respond to Lu-PSMA therapy, potentially guiding treatment decisions.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a test of a new treatment. It may not lead to immediate changes in care, and results might not apply to all patients.
