Probiotic cocktail cuts diarrhea duration in young kids

NCT ID NCT07342088

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether a mix of two probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus and Limosilactobacillus reuteri) could shorten diarrhea in children aged 1 to 6 with acute infectious diarrhea. 145 children were randomly assigned to receive the probiotics or a placebo. Researchers measured how long diarrhea lasted and tracked gut bacteria changes. The goal was to see if these friendly bacteria could ease symptoms and speed recovery.
