Gut bugs vs. gut wrench: probiotics tested to tame drug side effects
NCT ID NCT07213323
Summary
This study aims to see if taking probiotic supplements can help reduce common stomach side effects like nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain in people starting new GLP-1 weight-loss medications (semaglutide or tirzepatide). Researchers will enroll 50 adults with obesity and randomly assign them to receive either probiotics or a placebo (dummy pill) alongside their medication. The main goal is to see if probiotics improve digestive comfort and help people better tolerate the full dose of their weight-loss treatment.
