Gut bugs tested as treatment for common liver condition
NCT ID NCT04555434
Summary
This study tested whether taking specific probiotic supplements for 8 weeks could improve liver health in people with fatty liver disease (MASLD). 89 adults with the condition took either one of three probiotic strains or a placebo pill, while also taking a standard liver support supplement. Researchers measured changes in liver blood tests and gut bacteria to see if the probiotics helped.
