Gut bacteria vs. weight loss shot: Head-to-Head trial begins

NCT ID NCT06989177

Summary

This study aims to see if a specific probiotic (LC-19) can help with weight loss and improve metabolism as effectively as the medication semaglutide. It will involve 140 adults, most of whom are overweight or obese, who will follow a diet and lifestyle plan while also taking either the probiotic, the medication, or a placebo for 12 weeks. Researchers will closely track weight changes, body measurements, blood sugar, and other health markers to compare the two approaches.
