Can a new probiotic tune your gut to help manage weight?

NCT ID NCT06077383

Summary

This study tested whether a specific probiotic strain, Weizmania Coagulans BC99, could improve gut bacteria and key blood markers related to fat metabolism (like cholesterol and triglycerides) in overweight adults. For 8 weeks, 72 participants were randomly assigned to take either the probiotic or a placebo pill daily. Researchers collected blood and stool samples to see if the probiotic changed participants' gut microbiome and metabolic health.
