Old gout drug could stop dangerous epilepsy seizure clusters

NCT ID NCT07318870

Summary

This study is testing whether probenecid, a medication used for gout, can stop clusters of seizures in people with focal epilepsy. It involves 600 participants aged 6-50 who are in the hospital for video brainwave monitoring as part of planning for possible epilepsy surgery. The main goal is to see if a single dose stops further seizures for at least 12 hours after a cluster starts.
