Summary
This study aims to increase the use of needle and syringe programs in Canadian federal prisons to reduce the spread of HIV and hepatitis C among people who inject drugs. Researchers will work in nine prisons, including five women's prisons, to identify barriers and test strategies that help more incarcerated individuals access clean needles. The study does not test a new treatment but focuses on improving how existing programs are adopted and sustained.
