First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a community-mobilisation program called SASA! Together to prevent intimate partner violence in Malawi. About 4800 women and men aged 18-49 who have been in a romantic relationship will take part. The program works with entire communities to change attitudes and behaviors that allow violence to happen.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
SASA! Together community-mobilisation program
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide an effective, scalable way to reduce intimate partner violence and shift harmful social norms in communities.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral intervention, not a drug, so results depend on community engagement and may vary across settings. The trial is still recruiting and outcomes are measured through self-reports, which can be biased.
