Penicillin shots tested to stop syphilis in unborn babies

Summary
This study is testing whether monthly penicillin injections during the third trimester of pregnancy can prevent syphilis infection in high-risk women and stop it from passing to their babies. Researchers will compare the injections to standard care in 500 pregnant women in Brazil. The goal is to find a safe, effective way to protect mothers and infants from this serious infection.
