First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether checking for Staphylococcus aureus (a common bacteria) before surgery and using a special wash and ointment can prevent infections after surgery. About 250 adults having outpatient surgery will be assigned to one of four different cleaning methods. The goal is to see which approach best removes the bacteria and reduces infection rates.
