Mouthwash may stop cancer treatment side effect in breast and lung cancer patients

Summary

This study tests whether a steroid mouthwash (dexamethasone) can reduce mouth sores caused by the cancer drug datopotamab deruxtecan. About 60 adults with advanced breast or lung cancer will use the mouthwash four times a day for the first five days of each treatment cycle. The goal is to lower the rate of stomatitis (mouth inflammation) by 20% compared to historical data.
