First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving patients extra breathing support (positive pressure ventilation) before and after major abdominal surgery can lower the chance of lung complications like pneumonia or respiratory failure. About 206 adults at high risk for these problems will take part. The goal is to see if this simple, preventive approach helps people recover faster and avoid serious lung issues.
