Summary
This study tested whether giving nitric oxide during heart-lung bypass surgery could prevent acute kidney injury in 250 adults at high risk due to blood vessel problems. Participants received either nitric oxide or a placebo during surgery. The goal was to see if the treatment reduced the number of people who developed sudden kidney damage after the procedure.
