New hope for kids needing Life-Saving transplants

NCT ID NCT03924401

Summary

This study is testing if giving more doses of a drug called abatacept can better prevent a dangerous complication called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in children and teens. The trial includes 30 young patients with serious non-cancerous blood diseases who are receiving a stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor. Researchers hope this extended treatment will protect against both short-term and long-term GVHD without weakening the patient's new immune system.
