Treadmill training before knee surgery could cut fall risk

NCT ID NCT05736666

First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests if a special treadmill training program before total knee replacement surgery can help prevent falls after the operation. Participants will be split into two groups: one gets fall-prevention information only, the other also does two weeks of treadmill perturbation training (learning to recover from sudden speed changes). Researchers will track falls for one year after surgery to see if the training group falls less.
