Summary

This study tested whether injecting a local anesthetic (ropivacaine) during breast cancer surgery could prevent chronic pain that sometimes lasts for months after the operation. 260 women having breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy took part. The researchers compared pain levels three months after surgery between those who received the injection and those who did not.
