Can a simple pill stop a dangerous gut infection from coming back?

NCT ID NCT06979609

Summary

This study aims to prevent repeat Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) infections in people who recently had one and need to take antibiotics again. It will test if taking oral vancomycin (an antibiotic) alongside the new antibiotic course can protect the gut and stop C. diff from returning. About 300 adults who had a C. diff infection in the last 120 days will be randomly assigned to take either vancomycin or a placebo pill during and after their new antibiotic treatment.
