First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving a carbohydrate drink two hours before surgery is safe for people with well-controlled type 2 diabetes. 76 adults were randomly assigned to either get the drink or follow standard fasting. Researchers measured blood sugar levels and checked stomach contents with ultrasound. The goal was to see if the drink raises blood sugar too much or increases the risk of stomach problems during surgery.
