Prehab before transplant: could exercise and diet boost recovery?
NCT ID NCT07341698
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a program of resistance training and nutritional counseling, started before a stem cell transplant, can improve quality of life for blood cancer patients. 110 adults scheduled for a transplant will be randomly assigned to either the prehabilitation program or usual care. The main goal is to see if the program leads to better overall well-being.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
resistance training and nutritional counseling
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that a structured pre-transplant exercise and nutrition program improves quality of life and recovery for blood cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is an early full-scale trial, so results may not be definitive. The benefits of prehabilitation are still unproven, and individual results may vary.
